Mr. Moon installed the first CAT Scale in 1977 in South Holland, Illinois. In 1988, there were 28 CAT Scales in existence. At that time the company began to rapidly expand. Now there are over 1,500 CAT brand scales across the United States and Canada with more opening all the time.
With the stringent weight regulations and potential fines associated with violating such regulations, CAT Scale Company provides a much needed service to the trucking public. CAT brand scales are covered by an unconditional guarantee. If a driver receives an overweight fine after weighing legal on a CAT brand scale, CAT Scale Company will either pay the fine or appear in court with the driver as an expert witness in order to get the fine dismissed. In either scenario, the driver is covered by the guarantee and does not have to pay the fine, as long as they weighed on a CAT brand scale prior to receiving the citation.

If you get an overweight fine from the state after our scale showed you legal, we will immediately check our scale. If our scale is wrong, we will reimburse you for the fine. If our scale is correct, a representative of CAT Scale Company will appear in court with the driver as a witness.

CAT Scale Guarantee – Fine Reimbursement
While CAT Scale strives to provide the best weighing service possible and be your #1 choice, there are times when problems occur. If you receive an overweight citation after you have weighed legal on a CAT Scale, you are protected by our exclusive Guarantee.
Do the following to get the situation rectified:
Send a brief note of what happened along with the following information to the attention of the Guarantee Department, use the Walcott, IA address on your CAT Scale Ticket or fax to CAT Scale Fines at 775.981.9147. You may also email catscalefines@iowa80group.com.
Please send the following information:
Copies of all CAT Scale tickets that pertain to the citation. Copies of everything
that you received from the state. Make sure you include the amount of the citation. Your return address, (if not enclosed we will send all correspondence to the return
address on the envelope that we received your information in).
A phone number where you may be reached (If you are on the road give us your
spouse or dispatcher’s number).
All of the above items are needed to process your Guarantee claim in a timely manner, if we do not receive this information it will slow down processing of your claim.
Once we receive your information it will be processed the day we receive it, and a response will be sent to you. If we reimburse the amount of the citation, a check will be sent directly to you our customer. We do not pay the government agency that issued the citation. That way there is no confusion and you know the situation has be rectified.
